Since 1958 my parents have planted field-grown peppers on their land. Thus the scent of peppers has been embedded in me since childhood. Depending on the variety and season, this scent emerges through different tastes and colors. Inspired, attached and addicted, as the youngest child of the family I took the business over from my parents. A recent trend towards greenhouse-grown vegetables and the use of plastic tunnels has entered the Seewinkel region. In the interest of taste, we have rejected this means of market gardening. And so we continue to grow our many tomatoes, peppers and other vegetables under the open sky: entrusting wind and sun, awaiting gentle rains, putting our hands to work, rooted in sand and warmed by stones, with the passing of time - as was once common practice here in our region.
